Cottagetuin in Zoeterwoude

🇳🇱 …

🇬🇧 When I first visited this garden I was so impressed by the beautiful location and the wonderful cottage situated on a small island in the Dutch countryside. The garden needed work. There was a lawn on a slope and a hedge separating two parts of the garden. Clients requested an environmentally friendly modern cottage garden with organically shaped borders and areas for entertaining. The hedge was removed, and the slope was made level. We created a large deck from reclaimed wood and a small one re-using paving that was already in the garden. A greenhouse and shed will be added at the back of the garden. Reclaimed paving and a path have already been put down to that end. Clients are keen gardeners who love growing flowers to attract wildlife and vegetables. We planted a Cherry tree, a Weeping pear and a Dogwood shrub, but mostly perennials and annuals to add interest to the garden year round. The informal set-up with the organically shaped borders creates a base for the client to experiment with and build upon for many years to come.
